School Projects
‘In 2014, we were looking for a very special artist to work with our children. We were about to complete an extension to our school which had been built in 1998 to replace four, small village schools. We wanted some art work that would remember the history of the school but also mark its expansion.

It was essential to us that the art work was the children’s. We wanted it to reflect the four main villages that our children come from and that had once had schools of their own. We approach Kathy, who from the outset, understood our brief. Kathy presented her ideas to the staff, using ideas boards to illustrate her thinking. She explained that if the drew line drawings of features of each of the villages, she could use these to create four large prints, one representing each village.

Kathy’s preparation was so thorough that staff were able to use her ideas boards to explain the concept to the children. The children were truly inspired and created detailed, thoughtful and diverse drawings which were then passed to Kathy.

Kathy’s skill in selecting the drawings and putting them together to form a composition was stunning. Throughout the process she kept the children’s art work as it was; she did not alter it in any way. She used just one colour for each print, varying the shades. This was a particularly nice touch as it links to the schools ‘house system’.

The results were far better than we could ever have dreamed of. The children’s drawings were brought to life by Kathy through the use of colour and skilled composition. Her skill as an artist complements and enhances the work of the children but in no way replaces or detracts from it. We could not have asked for more. The history and the future of By Brook Valley School is vibrantly recorded and represented in the four prints she produced. The children can see their work in the prints, each of which reflects our community, history and future.

Thank you Kathy’

‘Having previously worked with Kathy I asked her to provide a ‘remote’ service, confident in the knowledge that she would provide a first class, cost efficient service on time.
All communication was timely and kept us in the loop throughout. Kathy provided support with suggestions of what was required and estimations of delivery time and cost.
The finished items were delivered on time and were of exceptional quality. The children, families and staff at the school adore them and they are now on display in one of our halls.
I would recommend Kathy without reservation.’
Anthony Walsh – Head, Holland Park Primary, Essex

In 2014 Kathy was entrusted with the marvellous project of representing our school through 7 large prints.
She worked very closely with the children in all year groups from Reception to Year 6 encouraging creativity and individuality.
The result were 7 large prints which completely represented each year group as well as creating an overall view on how the children feel about their school life.
This project was extremely successful, drawing on the ideas of the children and will remain a key piece of art for the next 7 years at CPS.
Kerry Parker – Acting Head of School, Corsham Primary.
